This course will focus on topics in math such as fractions, signed numbers and the Cartesian plane. A student's performance in this class will determine their Math Placement for the Fall and Winter Phase by assessing students knowledge, math skills, and ability to learn. This course will also help students develop better study habits and note taking skills and after completing the class students will be able to:

• Give different representations of fractions
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions
• Find absolute values
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide signed numbers
• Plot points on a cartesian plane

Algebra IA is the first half of the full year Algebra course. This course is designed for the student to be able to identify, describe, analyze, and solve expressions and functions. After completing the class students will be able to:

• Understand and apply properties of exponents
• Have a deeper understanding of order of operations
• Apply the major number properties
• Perform symbolic manipulation
• Solve and derive inequalities
• Solve and derive linear equations
• Find applications of linear equations
• Approach real life situations with logic

Algebra IB is the second half of the full year Algebra course. This course will also help further students' understanding of functions and develop better study habits and note taking skills. In addition, it will allow the student the opportunity to visualize and analyze real life situations. After completing the class students will be able to:

• Perform symbolic manipulation
• Solve and derive linear equations
• Find applications of linear equations
• Solving systems of equations by: graphing, substitution, elimination
• Solving inequalities
• Solving quadratic equations
• Developing the ability to think logically

This course builds on the algebraic and logical thinking developed in previous math courses and empowers students to model and solve more complex problems. The focus of this course is the development of abstract thinking and problem-solving skills. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply algebraic skills and logical thinking to mathematical problems and beyond.

TPrecalculus is a course designed for students who have successfully completed the Algebra 2 course. This course is considered to be a prerequisite for success in Calculus and College mathematics. Algebraic, graphical, numerical, and verbal analyses are incorporated during investigation or the Precalculus content standards. Content for this course includes an expanded study of polynomial and rational functions,trigonometric functions, and logarithmic and exponential functions.

This course strengthens students’ understanding of functions in preparation for the process of differentiation and integration. Calculus concepts explored include limits and continuity, derivatives, definite integrals, exponential and logarithmic functions,trigonometric functions and techniques of integration. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of real-world calculus applications. The course follows the Advanced Placement curriculum and will provide an excellent foundation for students who plan on majoring in Business, Science or Engineering in college.

This course introduces the basic concepts of plane geometry. Logic and deductive reasoning are stressed through the application of two-column proofs. Properties and relationships of geometric objects include the study of a) points, lines, angles and planes; b) polygons, with a focus on quadrilaterals, triangles and right triangles; and c) circles. This course also touches on the basics of right-angle trigonometry and strengthens basic algebra skills.
