1.  Soccer was re-introduced in 1975-76. Joe Knipper ’71 was the first coach and served for a year before Hank Cordeiro ’72 and Mike DiPiano H’82 took the reins.

3. The Class of 1981 was the first freshman class to do the Overnight and they did it twice, first in July at 520 MLK and repeated it in January 1978 in 5 degree temperatures at Camp Glen Gray.

7. The Winn twins! Leslie ’77 and Norman ’77 Winn were freshmen when their birthday fell on the last day of Summer Phase. It became a tradition that was celebrated every year they attended St. Benedict’s and on the final day of Summer Phase for many years after they graduated.

8. The birthday of Fr. Augustine Curley, O.S.B. ’74 was the main cover story if blizzard conditions prevented the official opening of school, but The Hive always remained open in any weather for Gray Bees who wanted or needed to be on the Property.
