Strength in Numbers

Gray Bees learn they can do hard things at a young age. How fitting that the lesson is also applied to the most ambitious campaign in St. Benedict’s Prep history, Forever Benedict’s. The challenge was enormous, yet the final numbers reveal the strength and resolve of a community that is like no other.

Here is what we accomplished together:

$108,936,668 raised, nearly $9 million more than the $100 million goal.

10,643 donors contributed to Forever Benedict’s. This includes alumni, students, parents, alumni parents, monks, faculty, staff, foundations, corporations and friends.

4,786 friends gave to Forever Benedict’s. We’re grateful to have new teammates as part of our donor community.

Gifts at every level propelled the campaign to success

22 gifts of $1 million+

157 gifts of $100,000+

Every gift matters! Gifts of $1,000 or less totaled a whopping $7.9 million and gifts under a $100 added nearly $2 million to the campaign.

Impact of Forever Benedict’s

Alumni participation was 32% prior to the launch of Forever Benedict’s. At campaign conclusion, it climbed to 37%. Boola! Boola!

The endowment doubled, from $18 million to $36 million, sustaining the St. Benedict’s mission for generations.

Enrollment in grades K-12 was 750 students prior to the launch of Forever Benedict’s. At the start of the 2022-23 academic year, 1,000 kids from in and around Newark are enrolled. The number of kids we accompany has increased by more than 33%.

NEW LOCATION IN NEWARK
With enrollment growth — and the Property literally bursting at the seams — St. Benedict’s was able to secure a second location, 0.6 miles away on  Livingston Street, for the Elementary Division.

SUSTAINED FINANCIAL AID
Our commitment to supporting Gray Bees, despite financial circumstances, was sustained. 85% of Middle and Prep Division students receive financial assistance, which will total more than $6 million in 2022-23.

Advancing St. Benedict’s is a Vocation

“We work for the kids,” is how the Advancement Team approaches the challenge of raising millions each year to support St. Benedict’s operations.
