Rising UDII and Juilliard Pre-College vocalist Felicia Abbass ’26 furthered her music study and training at the Académie Internationale d’Eté de Nice (Nice International Summer Academy) in the South of France. Pre-College faculty member Lorraine Nubar invited Felicia and seven Juilliard classmates to the Enhanced Program in Vocal Technique and Interpretation, a two-week program held July 22—August 4. The two-session program encompassed master classes in vocal techniques such as bel canto, drama and recitative delivery, as well as opportunities to sing and attend performances.
Established in 1957, the Academy brings 500 students to Nice each year for high-level education with renowned musicians, professors and soloists. In May, Felicia completed her first year at Juilliard Pre-College, the competitive preparatory division for music students who exhibit talent and potential to pursue serious music study at the college level. “I really improved a lot this year,” she said. “I’ve grown into my voice and gained a great deal of confidence.”

She learned new repertoire, performed operascenes at the spring recital and was offeredthe incredible opportunity to study in France.“It still hasn’t sunk in yet,” she said. “I can’t believe so much has happened so quickly.” Felicia brought classical music selections she wanted to learn and hone to the Academy.
