Symposium for Educators

The Fr. Mark Payne Institute will host its first symposium for educators on January 25, 2024. The event, “We’re Doing It Wrong: How to Step Back so Students Can Step Up,” is an initiative to extend the Institute’s reach. Open to teachers and administrators from public and private institutions, attendees will experience firsthand the four pillars—community development, student leadership, socio-emotional health and experiential education—that make St. Benedict’s Prep a national model in education.

In addition to the four core experiences, the symposium will include a panel discussion with education experts, as well as advocates and school leaders who have adopted the Benedict’s model. Established in 2016, the Institute was named in honor of Fr. Mark Payne, O.S.B. ’69, the architect of much of Benedict’s educational model. Under the leadership of executive director Glenn Cassidy, Ed.D. ’90, the Fr. Mark Payne Institute is a resource to public, charter and private schools nationwide.
