Alumni Engagement Officer (Advancement)
Summary Description:
St. Benedict’s Preparatory School (www.sbp.org) is seeking a full-time alumni engagement officer. The successful candidate will: manage a portfolio of alumni prospects; develop innovative strategies to acquire and retain donors, in particular younger alumni; and work collaboratively with the advancement team.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements donor strategies for a portfolio of up to 150 assigned prospects.
- Designs a personalized, concierge-like experience for low- and mid-level donors, helping to retain, reactivate, and grow gifts while also identifying donors with the ability and affinity to make larger gifts.
- Focuses on strategies to acquire new donors who have traditionally not made annual gifts.
- Leverages technology, phone, and face-to face encounters to engage constituents
- In concert with the director of special events, develops plans to engage alumni through in-person and virtual (if necessary) local and regional alumni events.
- Ensures and maintains proper prospect documentation using Raiser’s Edge, the School’s donor database/CRM.
- Collaborates with internal units including faculty, college placement, student counseling, athletics, and the business office.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Three to five years of experience in fundraising or relevant field (such as sales).
Other Considerations:
Successful candidates must demonstrate skills and expertise in planning and decision making, communication, human relations, salesmanship, persistence and patience. A high degree of initiative is expected along with strong organizational skills and the ability to identify and construct solutions. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (working both independently and as a member of a team) are required. Knowledge of The Raiser’s Edge software is a plus. Candidates should possess a commitment to the ideals of Benedictine education. A personal vehicle is required, as well as a willingness to travel and work outside of normal business hours.

Chief Financial Officer
Position: Chief Financial Officer
Status: Administrative/Full-Time - Onsite (No hybrid or remote optoin offered.)
Job Summary:
The Business Office maintains a staff of six and is seeking a new Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the Headmaster, and Dean of Administration, the new CFO will serve on the administrative team and work closely with Board members, administrators and members of the Newark Abbey community. The School employs 160 full and part-time faculty and staff, with an operating budget of $20 million and an endowment totaling $37 million. Additionally, s/he will work closely with the Advancement Office, which is charged with raising 60% of the School’s revenue annually.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all functions of the Business Office with a staff of five, including the Accounting Manager, Payroll & Benefits Manager, Student Billing Administrator, Accounts Payable Administrator and Financial Aid Administrator.
- Provide strategic leadership, analysis and management of the School’s finances.
- Support the Finance/Investment/Audit/Budget/Risk Committees of the Board of Trustees by setting meetings, performing background work, material preparation and presentation, executing decisions and follow up and documenting meeting minutes.
- Oversee treasury management and maintain strong relationships with banks and lending institutions to ensure adequate funding for the School's needs and in compliance with all loan covenants.
- Support and execute the School’s endowment management strategy in collaboration with the School’s Investment Committee and outsourced investment manager.
- Work closely with external auditors and ensure that the annual audits are completed timely.
- Responsible for the School’s insurance coverage, liability, and risk-related policies. Work with insurance advisors and brokers to ensure that adequate and cost-effective insurance is in place.
- Prepare annual budget and ensure stakeholders receive regular reports and feedback.
- Oversee all employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, short and long-term disability, life insurance, workers' compensation and other related plans.
- Serve on the Headmaster’s administrative team and participate in several other teams and committees.
- Oversee financial reporting to relevant constituencies including the Headmaster, Board of Trustees and others as needed.
- Ensure that the various constituencies of the organization, particularly the faculty, staff, and members of the monastic community, receive empathetic support from the Business Office.
General requirements:
- A BS/BA in accounting with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in non-profit accounting, including leadership experience, is required. A strong understanding of nonprofit accounting is essential. CPA or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience at an independent school is extremely beneficial, though individuals with strong non-profit financial and leadership experience are welcome.
- Experience managing a team, setting clear responsibilities and expectations, and clear methods of accountability.
- Skilled at negotiating contracts with external vendors.
- Consistent demonstration of a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar not-for-profit accounting package is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals from diverse background with sensitivity and empathy.

Leadership Gifts Officer
Summary Description:
St. Benedict’s Preparatory School (www.sbp.org) is seeking a full-time leadership gifts officer, responsible for building and managing a portfolio of prospects, primarily individuals, who have the financial capacity to make leadership level gifts to the School of at least $25,000 to support strategic fundraising priorities for endowment, capital, annual, and programmatic projects. The leadership gifts officer will develop strategies to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni and friends, working collaboratively with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and the advancement team.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements leadership and planned gift strategies for a prospect portfolio of up to 100.
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards prospects with a goal of 36 visits per quarter.
- Works with volunteers and other members of the School community, including the CAO, Headmaster, and Board of Trustees, to identify and cultivate prospects.
- Ensures and maintains proper prospect documentation using Raiser’s Edge, the School’s donor database/CRM.
- Collaborates with internal units including Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Advancement Records and Communications.
- Participates in cultivation events and programs both locally, regionally and nationally.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.

Maintenance Worker
Position: Maintenance Worker
Status: Full-time/Onsite
Job Summary
The Facilities department at St. Benedict’s Prep is seeking a reliable and skilled maintenance worker to perform essential tasks throughout the facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of repairs to ensure that our facilities are functional. Reliability is essential, and the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and knowledge.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the maintenance field
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Experience in sheetrock and paint
- Experience in carpentry
Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc.
- Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
- Complete regular maintenance tasks
- Report to the Director of Facilities or manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
- Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals
